cyclists

Sheffield has been twinned with Estelí, in Nicaragua, for 30 years and we support a number of youth projects in Estelí through our bike ride.

This year, as in 2016, there will be 3 different rides:

50 miles for those that want a challenging ride through Ringinglow, Hathersage, Bretton, Tideswell, Peak Forest, Mam Tor, Edale, Hope, Yorkshire Bridge, Stanage and Burbage, avoiding main roads where possible. The Edale lunch stop and marshalling point will enjoy its second year at Ruskin Villa, a mile outside the village on the right, as you’ll see in your ride guide.   Set off between 8am and 9am.

20 miles for those who want an easier but still hilly bike ride through  Burbage, Hathersage, and back under Stanage. Set off between 8am and 9am

10 miles for people who don’t cycle as regularly and children. It is a leisurely, safe ride and goes through Endcliffe Park & Porter Brook to the Alpaca Farm in Ringinglow, and back through Forge Dam. Set off between 9am  and 10am

Prices are:  individuals £20, concessions and students £7, children £5, children with sponsorship form £3

Sponsorship: We don’t ask for sponsorship but donations over and above the registration fee are welcome.  However, we feel that children may be more involved if they collect sponsorship .

Please note: Registration is once again at the Hallamshire Squash and Tennis Club at 716 Ecclesall Rd, Sheffield S11 8TA, just before the Rustlings Road entrance to Ecclesall Park. We are most grateful to them for hosting us.

Sheffield Esteli Bike Ride

2015 Sheffield Bike Ride

21st June 2015 @ 8:00 am
Starts Endcliffe Park, Rustlings Road Entrance
Endcliffe Park, Sheffield

Every year we celebrate the twinning between Sheffield and Estelí with a sponsored bike ride which takes place over two routes in the Peak District National Park to the south of the city.

Sheffield Esteli Bike RideRiders can choose between a 20 mile or a 50 mile route, setting off from Endcliffe park in Sheffield and riding through beautiful parts of the Peak District including Hathersage, Great Hucklow, Tideswell, Edale, Burbage and Stanage Edge.

Our riders range from professional cyclists who time their ride, to families and groups of friends who space the riding well between tea breaks in the villages they pass through.

The 2012 ride saw our youngest rider yet complete the 20 mile route at 6 years old!

This year’s ride will take place on Sunday 21st June with registration between 8am and 9am at Endcliffe Park, S11 7AA (go to the entrance off Rustlings Road nearest to Hunter’s Bar roundabout).

Marshals are situated around both routes to make sure people don’t get lost and can get assistance in case of any punctures!

If you would like to take part, you do not need to pre-register but it is great if you can so we have a rough idea of numbers to expect, this can be done by emailing us or filling in the contact form.

We are also always keen to recruit volunteers to help on the day with registration in the park, marshalling on the route and helping to publicise the ride in the lead up so get in touch if you’d like to join in!
